NEW YORK – Thursday night Da'Sean Butler hit the game winner at the buzzer to get past Cincinnati. Saturday night, Butler did it again. The West Virginia Mountaineers survived with a 60-58 win over the Georgetown Hoyas as Butler scored his 20th point on a runner in the lane with 4.2 seconds left in the 2010 Men’s BIG EAST basketball tournament championship. West Virginia out rebounded Georgetown 38-24. Chris Wright, Greg Monroe and Austin Freeman combined for 45 of the 58 points scored for the Hoyas. The Mountaineers won their first ever BIG EAST Basketball Championship.

The Men's Big East Basketball Tournament begins Tuesday, March 9, - Saturday, March 13. All sixteen teams from the Big East will be there. The top eight seeds clinch a Big East Championship first-round bye, with the top four seeds clinching a bye to the Big East Championship quarterfinal.
The ninth seeded USF Bulls will play the sixteenth seeded DePaul Blue Demons on Tuesday, March 9th at 12pm.

Clearwater -- The University of South Florida baseball team scored seven of their 12 runs in the seventh to earn their first win of the season over the University of Illinios on Saturday at Bright House Field.
USF started off strong in the first inning when Stephen Hunt hit a 2-run home run after Sam Mede had singled, but the Bulls were not done there. The Bulls scored two more runs in the fourth after Jonathan Koscso drove in Jimmy Falla and a Todd Brazeal double scored Hunt. In the top of the seventh, the Bulls scored seven runs on four hits and added a run in the eighth to complete the scoring.

USF Softball Field -- The USF Bulls faced the Michigan State Spartans in game two of their day one action in the La Quinta Inn and Suites Tournament on Friday Night. The Bulls (4-2) were able to get the win on a late, sixth inning, two run home run off the bat of senior Alison Savarese.
The home run, Savarese’s fourth of the season, put the Bulls ahead 2-1 in the bottom of the sixth and was eventually the difference in the game.

USF Softball Field -- The University of South Florida Softball team opened up the La Quinta Inn and Suites Tournament on Friday with a win over Wright State 6-1. Freshman pitcher, Linsey Richardson (2-0) pitched six innings, giving up eight hits, allowing one run, while striking out nine.
The offense was highlighted in the third inning with back to back home runs by Jo Jo Medina and Alison Savarese. Sophomore second baseman Alexis Nowell had a big day at the plate going 3-4 with two doubles and an RBI.
The Bulls moved to 3-2 overall on the season.

The USF men's basketball team led 24-23 at the half and then opened up the second with a 21-6 run. The Bulls (16-9, 6-7) beat the Bearcats 65-57 after holding Cincinnati to just 38 percent shooting. USF won it's fourth straight home game.
Dominique Jones scored 26 points, 19 of which came in the second half. Chris Howard chipped in with 12 points and Augustus Gilchrist scored 10 points in only his second game back from injury.

The University of South Florida men’s basketball team lost their 4th straight Big East game 69-50 to West Virginia and still find themselves winless in the conference this season.
USF faced their second consecutive AP Top Ten ranked opponent, after a loss to No. 7 Syracuse on Sunday.
The ealry stages of the game were owned by junior guard Dominique Jones, who opened the game 5-5 from the field and a couple of transition dunks. The Bulls seem poised for an upset jumping out to an early 11-point lead over the Mountaineers.
