The Bulls (28-14) grabbed a 2-0 lead in the second, and extended it to 3-0 on Andrew Longley's solo shot in the sixth. The Gators were unable to solve Bulls' starter Matt Reed through the first five, but rallied back to tie with three runs in the bottom half of the frame.
With two outs and Todd Brazeal on second, Jimmy Falla delivered with an RBI single that pushed across the go-ahead, and the Bulls added another insurance run in the eighth when Longley homered for the second time on the evening, fifth on the season, to give USF a 5-3 advantage.
Andrew Barbosa (5-3) picked up the win in relief after recording one out to end the sixth. Austin Adams, Nick Gonzalez, and Steven Leasure combined to shut down the Gators through the final three innings to preserve the victory.
Fresh off this feat, the Bulls look to keep rolling as they host Big East foe Villanova for a three game set, starting Friday at 7 p.m.
