TAMPA, FL - The weather may not have held up at the USF Softball Stadium on Wednesday night, but the bats of the No. 22 Bulls (26-5) came through in 7-1 victory over Hartford.

Freshman pitcher Sam Greiner was a display of pure dominance, throwing her career first complete game with a one-hitter. She came close to acquiring a shutout, but an error in the third led to the sole run of the ballgame for the Hawks.

Immediately the Bulls jumped all over the Hartford Hawks with a 2-0 lead after the first inning.

Some strong pitching by Greiner through the next couple of innings made for a long day for the Hawks, who also dropped their first game of the day 4-3 in nine innings to the University of North Texas.

The Bulls scored another run in the bottom of the fourth when junior Kenshyra Jackson led off with a double. On out later Janine Richardson lifted a sacrifice fly to right to drive home Jackson.

In the bottom of the fifth inning the Bulls tacked on three more runs. Stephanie Medina's two-run homer, which bounced off and over the top of the fence in right, put the Bulls up 6-1.

Their final run came on a sac-fly from senior Jessica Mouse in the bottom of the sixth.

Game one was interrupted for about 45 minutes with a weather delay, due to lightning strikes in the area. The latter half of the Bulls doubleheader was cancelled due to rain. Their next scheduled contest is the start of a three-game series with Rutgers (11-12) to open Big East play in Tampa, Saturday at 2 p.m.
