USF men’s basketball was taken down by the No. 3 Louisville Cardinals on Saturday, as the Bulls lost 64-38 at the KFC Yum! Center.
Stan Heath put forth a surprising line up of Anthony Collins, Javontae Hawkins, Martino Brock, Toarlyn Fitzpatrick, and Zach LeDay.
A meager offensive performance resulted in only 15 first half points. USF was out-performed in almost all categories. Louisville dominated in the paint - out-scoring the Bulls 36 to 14 - while USF only grabbed 24 rebounds compared to the Cardinals' 49, resulting in only two second-chance points.
Victor Rudd lead USF with 10 points and eight rebounds. Among the starters, Hawkins scored the most points with nine. Collins shot 1-for- 3 for five points in 34 minutes of playing time. Poland went 0-for- 2 from the floor with one point in 15 minutes.
Louisville’s top scorer was Peyton Siva with 17. Gorgui Dieng had impressive night with 12 points and 16 rebounds.
USF faced a Final Four caliber team in front of a crowd of 21,903 in Louisville, Kentucky. The Bulls are 0-3 in Big East play and fall to 9-6 on the season. Their next matchup is away at Rutgers at 9 p.m. on Thursday.
