Despite a career-high 35 points from Andrea Smith, the Bulls dropped to 0-2 in the Big East after a 91-75 loss at DePaul on Saturday.

CHICAGO—Just a few days after a heartbreaking loss to No. 2 Notre Dame in the Big East opener, the USF Women’s basketball team lost their second conference game in a row, 91-75 versus the DePaul Blue Demons.

Andrea Smith somehow topped her 33-point performance against the Irish, and set a new career high of 35 points, 31 of which were scored in the second half of the losing effort. She also had a double-double, adding 10 rebounds to her stat line.

Andrell Smith and Inga Orekhova both scored in double digits as well, with 14 and 13 points apiece. Alisia Jenkins brought down 13 rebounds, which is a season-high.

The Blue Demons were led by Ana Martin, who scored 35 points, and Brittany Hrynko who dropped 22. Hrynko added eight assists as well. As a team, DePaul shot an impressive 45% from the field in the blowout victory.

With the win, DePaul improves to 13-4 and 2-1 in the Big East. On the other side, USF drops to 11-4 and 0-2 in conference play.

The Bulls return to the court on Tuesday January 15th against the Cincinnati Bearcats at the Sun Dome with tipoff set for 7:00PM.
