In a society where “YOLO” has become a common phrase, are you really going to settle for a mediocre spring break? You should embrace the “You Only Live Once” mentality and be determined to make spring break 2012 a memorable one!

 

Don’t know what to do? Well, here’s a compilation of some of the best events going on in Tampa to ensure that your spring break will be unforgettable. Let’s come back to school with some stories, shall we?

March 8

John Leguizamo: Ghetto Klown

7:30 p.m.

Carol Morsani Hall – The Straz Center

What: A theatre-lover or not, you will find this on-tour Broadway solo performance by John Leguizamo very amusing!  “Ghetto Klown is all the things I say to my therapist and my manager, but would NEVER want the general public to know,” Leguizamo said.

Ticket prices vary.

 

March 9 

Mind Bending Comedy with Rob the Mentalist and Steve Lazlow

10 p.m.

Tampa Pitcher Show

What: Interested in humor and mind teasers? Come to see if you can figure out the hysterically perplexing performance of Rob the Mentalist followed by The Comic performance by Steve Lazlow! Tickets $10, one drink minimum.

 

March 10

First Annual Gasparilla Music Festival

What: Not a night owl? Soak up a day filled with tunes, food, drinks, and friends as you enjoy Tampa’s first ever Gasparilla Music Festival! Tickets $20

 

Inaugural Bar Wars bartending competition

What: Experience an atmosphere of competition and fun while watching 10 of your favorite bartenders from around Tampa compete! Events include a talent show, bar trivia and fastest drinks served. FREE entry with $2 drink specials all day!

 

 DJ Magic Mike at Jackson’s Nightclub

Jackson’s Bistro Bar and Sushi

What: Dance your post-midterm stresses away at Jackson’s nightclub! One of the top DJs and mixmasters in the world, DJ Magic Mike, will be spinning the hits all night long at this premier nightclub in Downtown Tampa.

 

 

Bikini Laser Tag

What: Looking for ‘the ultimate party?’ This event features bikinis, laser tag, cosmic bowling and dubstep!  If you’re looking for a crazy time, this event is the place to be. Those dressed in bikinis get FREE entry.

 

March 11 

Spring Training: New York Yankees vs. Philadelphia Phillies

What: For all you sports lovers, come out to watch the New York Yankees play the Philadelphia Phillies! Kick back while enjoying hot dogs, beverages and of course America’s pastime!

 

Hunter Hayes Concert

What: Any country fans out there? The country music singer and song writer, Hunter Hayes, will be performing live in concert! It’s a family friendly show with all ages welcome. Tickets $10

 

March 12 

Hunahpuh's Day at Cigar City Brewing

What: If you are passionate about beer, then a Monday beerfest is your dream come true! Celebrate the release of Cigar City Brewing's most sought-after beer, Hunahpuh's Imperial Stout, with this mini beer fest going on all day long!

 

March 16 - 18 

Chalk Walk Art Festival 2012

Hyde Park Village Tampa

What: Looking to quench your creative side? This three-day long event art festival features nearly 50 amazing chalk artists drawing right on the street! There will be children’s activities, live bands and more!

 

St. Patty’s Day Plans for March 17!

Epic St. Patty's Party featuring DJ Pauly D

Hawaiian Village Tampa – a resort featuring pools, six bars, cabanas and rooms overlooking the venue

What: If you’re into the party scene, this is surely the place to be on St. Patrick’s day! An all-day pool party, this event features pop culture icon, DJ Pauly D, as well as many other live performances.  Specials include $2 green beers, Leprechauns, dunk tanks, shamrock fist pumpers and great Irish food!

Fourth Annual Dyeing the Channel Green

4 p.m.

What: Watch as the Garrison Channel goes green for the third year in a row, using an environmentally friendly liquid dye. Enjoy live music, boat rides, and Irish specials!
