AKRON, OHIO -- USF’s second game in the University of Akron tournament ended in a 5-0 romp at the hands of the Akron Zips (4-1-2).
This was the Bulls’ (4-2-1) second time being shut out this season and the first time USF has given up more than two goals on defense.
USF was able to keep the game close in the first half after giving up a 14th minute goal to Akron’s Aodhan Quinn. However, the Bulls only managed three shots to the Zips’ seven.
In the second half, USF’s offense was just as ineffective, only mustering up another three shots. Akron had 11.
Akron was able to score in the 55th, 61st, 78th (via penalty kick), and 85th minutes, pulling ahead by five.
The Bulls go 0-1-1 in the University of Akron tournament and fall to 4-2-1 this season.
USF returns to the friendly confines of Corbett Soccer Stadium on Saturday at 7:30pm.
