The USF Bulls Men's Basketball team was trounced 74-56 on Saturday night by the UCF Knights.

The Bulls' only mentionable  offensive  performance came from senior guard Jawanza Poland - USF's lone player in double digit figures in scoring posted a career-high 22 points. Poland went 8-for-11 from the field.

The Bulls' staunch defense from  last season was absent, allowing the Knights to have four players in double digits and two with double-doubles: Isaiah Sykes (26), Keith Canton (16), Tristin Spurlock (14), and Kasey Wilson (13).

"We've always been pretty good at taking away the other team's top players,” Bulls coach Stan Heath said. "Their top players dominated the game.”

"We could not get a handle on Sykes. We couldn't get a handle on Clanton. Both players were extremely, extremely effective."

Wilson had a standout game, matching his points total with rebounds (16)

Collectively, the Bulls had trouble rebounding all night. They were out rebounded 41-26.

Their play in the paint was also forgettable.

"We're obviously very disappointed. We didn't play well,"  Heath said. "They beat us in areas that bother me. They dominated the glass. They got most of the loose balls, the effort plays..."

The Bulls get another crack at the Knights Jan. 2.

USF is back in action on Friday at 7:30 p.m. when they host Maryland-Eastern Shore to open the USF invitational.
