Prodigy - Return of the Mack

prodigy_return_of_the_mac.jpg

One-half of the legendary rap group, Mobb Deep, Prodigy comes back with his sophomore effort, "Return of the Mack." The alchemist-produced album combines smooth lyrics with an old school sound. The intro sets the tone of the album, while the title track, "Mac 10 Handle" and "Down and Out in New York City" takes the listener back to the 70's with their blaxploitation-type beats. Prodigy's lazy rap style and stories of ghetto life are trademarks on the most successful groups in rap history. Recommended for fans of Mobb Deep and rap as a whole.

Slim Thug Presents: Boss Hogg Outlawz: Serve & Collect

Boss_Hogg.jpg

Boss Hogg Outlawz debut album Serve & Collect is somewhat reminiscent of Tha Dogg Pound, but with more talent, more dough, and a higher thug mentality. The opening track, We Boss Hoggin’, benefits from fantastic production that can be appreciated by those residing on any coast.

Talib Kweli- Eardrum

Eardrum-cover.jpg

Talib Kweli first made a name for himself rhyming along side Mos Def on Rawkus Records' 1998 landmark release Black Star. Now with an established career, Talib's latest record is Eardrum, released on July 24,2007. It is his first album on his own Blacksmith label, operating under Warner Bros. Records.

Eardrum is food for the senses.

Chamillionaire - Hip Hop Police ft. Slick Rick (single)

hiphoppolice_single_1.jpg

From Chamillionaire's second album entitled “Ultimate Victory”, his first single featuring the great Slick Rick is a hip hop chart-topper called “Hip Hop Police.” Producer Johnathan Rotem puts out a song that starts off sounding like a 50 cent joint and is sort of reminiscent of Chamillionaire's “Ridin'” single of last year (which featured Krazy Bone of Bone Thugs n' Harmony).

B.G. and The Chopper City Boyz: "We Got This"

Former Cash Money Millionaire Chris (B.G.) Dorsey is back with another album. B.G. hasn't had a platinum album since Choppa City in The Ghetto back in 1999. His featured track with Made 'Em Mad is a street block bumper that deserves recognition. With Rapper/Activist David Banner on the track, it is made to be a chart topper. The album debuted at number 20 on the Billboard 200 charts, selling over 27,000 copies in its first week. The album's strong opening was also good for #1 on the Top Indie Album Chart. Other notable track on the album are Thorough Street N**** and It's real. Check out this album. RATE 3 of 5
